North Main Streetscaping Begins

Friday, April 25, was the groundbreaking for the long anticipated North Main Streetscaping project. Construction is expected to take two years, beginning at Anthony Avenue and continue south to Elmwood Avenue. Improvements we should see once the project is completed include a turn lane at River Dr., textured crosswalks, new sidewalks, pedestrian crossing signals, and decorative mast arm traffic signals. The City's website, www.columbiasc.net will have a link to the project and will contain updates on the progress. It should also contain a traffic report for the upcoming week, so that people may plan their routes accordingly.
