ECCO Executive Council Meeting - January 8, 2007
In attendance: Jim Prater (President), Bill Goodson (Vice President & Membership), Melanie Lewismoss (Secretary & Communications), Brenda Creson (Treasurer), Ford Mason(past president & Street Captains), Martha Mason (Quality of Life), Dan Elswick (DDRC), Julia Prater (Zoning). Absent: Tiaa Rutherford (Member-At-Large)
Chris Barzack addressed the meeting on his plans for renovations to his property at 3401 Lyles St. The property includes a single family home and a Duplex. Chris would modify the Duplex into a single family home and split the property to allow for 2 single family owners. He has a meeting set to discuss this issue with city officials and will update the Council on his progress.
The most recent proposed changes to the bylaws were discussed. Other changes were suggested. A final version of the bylaws from the Executive Council will be presented at the January General Meeting with a recommendation for the membership to endorse the proposed changes. A vote to accept the revised bylaws is planned for the February General Meeting.
The January General Meeting agenda will include a discussion of proposed changes to the bylaws, an update from city officials on the budget for the renovation of the Earlewood Park Community Center, an update on development projects by Chris Barzack, Chris Dorsey and the property at Sunset & Falling Springs.
Individuals approached to Chair Safety & Police Committees declined the position. Other possible Chairpersons were suggested and discussed. These individuals will be contacted to determine their interest in the position.
A meeting with Earlewood religious officials is being organized to look at problem areas within the neighborhood, discuss possibilities for the upcoming development of the Broad River corridor and investigate the possibility of a community wide Easter Sunrise Service at the Earlewood Park Community Center.
Jim Prater has talked with Corporal Felder of the City of Columbia Police Department about planning a series of 3 crime prevention meetings to discuss safety issues within the Earlewood boundaries including Laurel Hill and Canal Place. Possible dates are the Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of the last week in January.
A meeting is being planned with City officials to discuss the problem areas within the neighborhood, discuss possibilities for the upcoming development of the Broad River corridor.
Jim Prater gave an update on the status of the North Main streetscaping project.
The date for the next Executive Council meeting is tentatively set for Monday, February 5, 2007.
