
ECCO is the Earlewood Community Citizens Organization. We represent the residents of the Earlewood neighborhood in Columbia, SC.
The purpose of ECCO is to maintain and enhance the residential character of the neighborhood while striving to enhance the quality of life of the citizens that live, work, and worship therein; to reach common understanding regarding neighborhood problems, issues, and solutions; to communicate community concerns and desires to appropriate government agencies, elected officials, private organizations, other pertinent groups, and citizens; to encourage participation in community life; to develop closer cooperation among community citizens; to foster community pride; to serve as a conduit for information to residents about city services and other items of community interest and concern; and to do such things as will tend to improve conditions for neighborhood residents and community oriented businesses.

Congratulations to the new 2008-2010 ECCO Officers
- Fred Monk - Fred Monk is president of ECI/Find New Markets, a non-profit helping companies enter domestic and international markets, and is chairman of the Columbia World Affairs Council. Fred has extensive experience developing organizations and interfaces regularly with members of City Council. He co-chaired the North Columbia Task Force and served on the Columbia Development Corp. board.
- Drue Barker - Drue Barker is the Director of Women's & Gender Studies at USC. From her years as a faculty member she has extensive experience in parliamentary procedure.
- Martha Mason - Martha Mason served as the first ECCO President in the late 1970s and Secretary in the early 1990s. She is completing a term as Quality of Life Chairperson. She retired as Head of Cataloging from USC Libraries.
- Bill Eiwen - Bill Eiwen is the Pastor of Reformation Lutheran Church, completing his first year in that position. He and his wife Ginny rehabbed a home on Beaufort St. and were able to move in just after Thanksgiving this past year.
- Susan Wilson - Susan Wilson has been an Earlewood resident since 2004 and works as a transportation and urban planner.
2008-2009 Membership Drive
July 1 marks the beginning of ECCO's fiscal year so now is the time to renew your membership in the Earlewood neighborhood organization. Membership is open to anyone who is a resident of Earlewood. With over 1,200 residents, Earlewood is one of the largest neighborhoods in the city.
ECCO brings together residents of Earlewood who love where they live and want to promote, protect, and strengthen their neighborhood. Joining ECCO is easy - it's only $5 a year for individuals and $10 for a household. Being a member allows you to vote on issues, meet your neighbors, and generally become involved in your neighborhood.

New T-shirts
Show your support for ECCO and Earlewood this summer. T-shirts with the new ECCO logo will be available for sale at National Night Out and future meetings. Shirts are $12.00 each or two for $20.00.
